Amp hello I would like to submit a complaint: listening to this album caused alien vegetation to sprout from my flesh and slowly take over my consciousness and now I am no longer welcome at parties Favorite track: Whatever Happened to Baby Straw.

about

Screw and Straw met in a bar in a small town in Switzerland. Neither of them remember the meeting but I know it went down, ‘cause I was there. Screw, a youngster who resembled a beanstalk at the time towered over the much older and shorter Straw. In fact, if names were required to reflect physiques, they would definitely have to switch. They took an instant dislike to each other. If I hadn’t been there, they probably wouldn’t have talked for more than a minute. But… five minutes later, they were “old friends”.
But that’s the thing about Screw and Straw. Nothing is as it seems. they’re a regular “hall of mirrors”. Just when you are used to one reality, here’s another. Just when you wonder “who’s soloing?” you realize neither is. A moment later they both are though. Then before you know it, the whole situation is upside down and in reverse. One second its all shits and giggles, the next, they are at each others throats and swear they never want to see each other again but the next, it’s all lovey dovey with cutie-pie faces and diminutives added to every third word. The same stuff happens in the music (minus the cutesie faces). The only thing the listener should expect is to be surprised if you know what I mean.
But let’s get to the music on this album. While their first release focused on their “’70’s action buddy” personas (sort of a musical version of Starsky and Hutch), this one explores their more sensitive sides. Inspired by the friendship featured in the ’60’s hit tv series “I Dream of Jeannie” they work through relationship issues and what it’s like to spend so much time together when not in a bottle or a tin can (far above the moon).
